Nestling against the remains of the Roman walls, lies the exquisite little Gothic church of S. Maria delle Rose. Two sides of it boast a very elaborate Gothic ornamentation of the early 14^th Century. The elaborately designed windows and the decorative sculpture of roses along with the beautiful doorway attributed to Matteo Civitali, the renowned lucchese sculptor, are well worth seeing.
